Miami-Dade County Public Schools is proud to announce Dr. Elizabeth Aguila was selected as an 2021 Janet Linton Leadership Award winner. Lisa Dughi, CEO of NAF introduced the award winners at the annual NAF Next 2021 Conference, held July 13-15, 2021.

Dr. Elizabeth Aguila is a career and technical education teacher at Hialeah Gardens Senior High School and has been teaching for 20 years. She holds certifications in English, reading, preschool education, and exceptional student education; and has a Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Reading. Her research seeks to find the secret behind motivating minority high school students to enter the field of education and the development of their teacher identity during their participation in a high school teacher preparation academy. Elizabeth is currently the lead teacher for the Academy of Education, a high school level teacher preparation program and a NAF distinguished academy.

During the opening session of this year’s NAF Next virtual conference, Dr. Aguila joined other Janet Linton Award winners in a panel discussion “Celebrating Our Educators and the Drive Forward.”
