Mad City Money sponsored by The South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union is a financial literacy simulation, that gives high school students a taste of the real world. This simulation comes complete with a profile for each student that provides for them their occupation, children, salary, spouse, student loan debt, credit card debt, and medical insurance payments. They then participate by visiting booths prepared by the hosting organization where they will spend their income to maintain their lifestyle. After participating in the event, attendees were debriefed with information about budgeting and career planning and how this impacts their future and their finances. They also were taught about the Stock Market and other investment vehicles. G. Holmes Braddock’s Business Honor Society hosted the event to include Honor Society members and the Academy of Information Technology.
